We all want to be healthy and many of us take steps to ensure our physical health with a good diet and exercise but too many of us do not take our oral health as seriously.

The problem is your oral health is tied to your overall physical health so if you are one of the people who has never really thought about your oral health being included into your physical health now is the time.

How your oral health affects your physical health

It has been documented that cavities and gum disease contributes to many serious diseases such as;

  • Diabetes which can lead to other conditions like glaucoma
  • Lung conditions such as infections
  • Oral cancer
  • Obesity because you cannot chew well it makes it harder for your system to digest food properly
  • Thyroid problems which in turn can cause issues such as dry skin, fatigue, and more
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Osteoporosis

Not to mention poor oral health affects your smile and self-esteem.

Visiting your dentist is important

It is important that you visit your dentist twice a year for checkups and cleanings.
